SAKSHAM - AN INITIATIVE BY MITSOER FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

1. To strengthen the power of socially and economically deprived women by empowering them with required skills to be independent and self-reliant
2. To promote the culture of Women Entrepreneurship

OBJECTIVES

1. To identify the weaker women
2. To train the women with different skills which will help them to start small scale industry
3. To be the catalyst in providing the market for their sales of the product
4. To help them with micro financing for their products

 

Implementation of the Programme :
As per the vision and guidance given by the Executive Director, Project Director and Principal of MAEER’s MIT SOE&R, the programme was planned and implemented.
On 20th Oct., 2015 Dr. Vandana Kenjale and Ms. Manjiri Dhere went to the activity hall in Sutardara. Nearly 45 women were gathered in the hall. After the general introduction of the programme, material was distributed among the women. Dr. Vandana Kenjale demonstrated and instructed how to apply the primer to the lamps, how to use brush for colouring, shading the lamp and lastly the guidance for decorating the lamp was given. All the women were engrossed in colouring and decorating the oil-lamps for the next 4 days.
After finishing touch is given to all the diyas, packing was done and the diyas were kept ready for sale
All the faculty members in the college also co-operated for marketing. More than 80% of the diyas were sold out in MIT campus. Profit was gained though the programme.
Pot Decoration:
On 17th to 25th February, 2016 Dr. Vandana Kenjale went to the activity hall in Jay-Bhavani Nagar. Nearly 40 women were gathered in the hall. After the general introduction of the programme, material was distributed among the women. Dr. Vandana Kenjale demonstrated and instructed how to apply the primer to the pots, how to use brush for colouring, shading the pot and lastly the guidance for decorating the pot was given. All the women were engrossed in coloring and decorating the pots for the next 8 days.
After finishing touch is given to all the pots, packing was done and the pots were kept ready for sale.
All the faculty members in the college also co-operated for marketing. More than 80% of the diyas were sold out in MIT campus.

1. Marketing of ceramic pots
2. Artificial Flower (Stocking) and bouquet making
3. Paper bags making
4. Wax candles
